Microgiving is so tangible!!
Author: GiantMelanie // Category: Extreme Poverty, Giving, MicrogivingToday I opted not to splurge on a pumpkin spice latte and went with my Ethiopian Fair Trade coffee at home. Then, Elliott and I went to Chick-fil-A for lunch, split an entrée, and used a coupon. We had the perfect amount of food, instead of leaving with a nugget hangover or throwing away half a box of fries, and here’s the cool part. Between the coffee and the shared meal, I saved about ten dollars. I then took the ten dollars that I would’ve spent on too much food and fancy coffee and gave it to Hopemongers, a microgiving organization that combines everyone’s ten dollars into things like teachers’ salaries, new wells, and food for people living in extreme poverty around the world. Sometimes giving feels like something I need to pray about, mull over, decide on the right place to send a large chunk of money…or for some people living on a tight budget, not even an option right now. With micro-giving, every time I make a choice to save a few dollars, I can put those dollars to work to achieve a goal of a better life for someone else. Next time you get an unexpected 30% off at the register or skip dessert on your date night, visit www.Hopemongers.org and share the love with someone else.

Chick-fil-A Meets Hopemongers
I think that Hopemongers needs to add another category on its site for Chick-fil-A. I mean…everyone deserves a perfectly seasoned chicken sandwich and a large sweet tea. I’d call the effort Chickmongers, but that sounds like something else…I’ll keep thinking.
